Mamytov Mitalip was born on December 16, 1939, in Osh region of the Kyrgyz Republic in a rural family.
He has finished Secondary School an excellent and a successful, from 1958 till 1966 he has studied at Kyzyl-Kiya Secondary Medical School and at Kyrgyz Medical Institute, from which he graduated with honors degrees.
From 1966 to 1971 he studied at Clinical Residency and Doctoral Degree at Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) Research Institute of Neurosurgery named after Professor A.L. Polenov.
From 1971 until 1973, he worked as a head of neurotraumatology department of Republican Clinical Hospital of the Kyrgyz Republic in Frunze city (now Bishkek). From 1973 to 1998, he worked as an Assistant Professor, then as a professor of Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of the Kyrgyz State Medical Institute.
In 1971 he passed Ph.D. defense in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), in 1972 he received a diploma of candidate of sciences. In 1987, he defended Doctoral Dissertation in Kiev. In 1999, he was awarded the academic title “Professor†in Moscow.
From 1997 to 2002, he worked as a Pro-rector for Research at Medical Academy. From 2002 to 2007, he worked as a Rector of the Asian Medical Institute. From 2002 to 2005 he worked as Health Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Academician M. Mamytov has been attached to a chair of the Department of Neurosurgery of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy since 1998 to present time. He is a President of the Kyrgyz Association of Neurosurgeons, honorary member of the associations of neurosurgeons of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Honored Worker of Science of Kyrgyz Republic
He is an Academician and member of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic.
